El Salvador's coast is a surf paradise – consistent waves from March to October, warm water, and a scene that's simultaneously laid-back and adventurous. El Tunco is the epicenter: backpackers, surfers, nightlife. El Zonte (aka 'Bitcoin Beach') became world-famous as the first Bitcoin town – here you can literally pay for pupusas with BTC. The coast stretches from La Libertad to El Cuco, with different vibes at each beach.

🏄El Tunco
El Tunco is the hotspot – party on weekends, yoga mornings, and surfing all day. The waves break on rocks, so not for beginners. The hostel scene is lively, and there are decent camping options on the outskirts.
₿El Zonte & Bitcoin
El Zonte is more relaxed than El Tunco and became world-famous through the Bitcoin Beach project. Here El Salvador tested its Bitcoin experiment – local shops accept BTC via Lightning Network. The waves are more beginner-friendly, vibes alternative.
🐢East Coast & Turtles
Further east it gets quieter: Playa El Cuco is a fishing village with relaxed flair. Between July and December sea turtles nest on the beaches – projects like Tortuguero El Cuco offer volunteer work protecting the nests.
