Vista general de la ruta
Sobre este recorrido
The east coast is the Dominican Republic's best-known face – white sandy beaches, all-inclusive resorts, and turquoise-blue water. But there's more: Altos de Chavón artist colony near La Romana, Parque Nacional del Este with its islands, and for golfers the best courses in the Caribbean. This route is more relaxed and perfect for campers who want to combine beach with a bit of culture and nature.
Tu viaje en detalle
🌴Punta Cana
Bávaro and Punta Cana offer endless white beaches with coconut palms – the postcard Caribbean image. Beyond the resorts there are also public beaches, and infrastructure is excellent. Cap Cana is more exclusive with marina and golf courses.
⛳La Romana & Altos de Chavón
Altos de Chavón is surreal: A recreated medieval village overlooking the Chavón River with amphitheater, art galleries, and upscale restaurants. Casa de Campo nearby is one of the most luxurious golf resorts in the Caribbean.
🎷Island Adventures
From Bayahíbe boats depart for Isla Saona and Isla Catalina – nature reserves with pristine beaches and coral reefs for snorkeling. Note: Catamaran tours often very touristy, speedboat tours quieter.
💡Consejos prácticos
- ✓Book island tours directly in Bayahíbe, not through hotels – half the price!
- ✓Golf season: November-April, green fees cheaper May-October.
- ✓Local SIM card (Claro or Altice) – excellent coverage nationwide.
