Getting to Estonia for Your Campervan Adventure

Reaching Estonia is straightforward for most international travellers.

  • ✈️ By Plane (The Most Popular Option):

  • The main point of entry is Tallinn International Airport (TLL).

  • From the UK & Ireland: Direct flights are available from London airports (e.g., Stansted, Gatwick) and sometimes Dublin, operated by airlines like Ryanair and Wizz Air. Alternatively, a one-stop flight via a major European hub is very common and convenient.
  • From the USA, Canada, Australia, etc.: There are no direct flights to Estonia. The easiest route is to fly to a major European hub like Helsinki (Finland), Frankfurt (Germany), Amsterdam (Netherlands), or Riga (Latvia) and then take a connecting flight to Tallinn (TLL). From Helsinki, you can even take a 2-hour ferry to Tallinn!

After your arrival at the airport, you can easily reach your campervan's pick-up location. The exact address of our partner's rental station will be provided in your booking documents. Depending on the location, the pick-up may be directly at the airport or nearby.

Estonian Cuisine: Flavours of the Forest and the Baltic

A campervan trip through Estonia will allow you to discover a simple, tasty cuisine that is deeply connected to nature.

What you shouldn't miss:

  • 🍞 Leib: Black rye bread is the cornerstone of Estonian cuisine. Try it with salted butter!
  • 🐟 Smoked Fish: Especially herring and salmon, which you'll find in every market.
  • 🍄 Berries and Mushrooms: In summer and autumn, menus are filled with freshly picked blueberries, raspberries, and chanterelles.
  • 🥛 Kohuke: A popular dessert, it's a sweet curd cheese bar coated in chocolate.
  • 🍲 Verivorst: For the more adventurous, this is the traditional Estonian blood sausage, especially popular in winter.

Camping in Estonia: A Paradise for Legal Wild Camping

Estonia has one of the most camper-friendly laws in Europe, thanks to its "Right of Public Access" (igaüheõigus).

  • 🏕️ Wild Camping & Free-Standing:

  • Estonian law allows you to camp for free for one or two nights on state-owned land, as long as you stay away from houses and respect nature. The best way to do this is by using the incredible network of RMK (State Forest Management Centre) campsites. These sites, spread across the country, are free and often equipped with firewood, a barbecue area, tables, and even dry toilets.

  • 🚐 Campsites and Motorhome Areas:

  • In addition to the free RMK sites, there are also paid campsites that offer full services like showers, electricity, and waste disposal.

On Campcruisers, you'll find a selection of bookable campsites and private motorhome pitches. Take a look, perhaps your next destination in Estonia is already on our list!
