About this Tour

The Hai Van Pass was described by Top Gear as “one of the most beautiful coastal drives in the world” – and rightly so. This route takes you from bustling Hanoi through the "dry Halong" of Ninh Binh, past the imperial city of Hue to the perfect Hai Van Pass itself. The switchbacks wind between jungle and sea, and at the summit you have a view that will take your breath away. The destination, Hoi An, is a perfect finale: a time-worn old town famous for tailored clothing and delicious street food.

Your Journey in Detail

🏯Hanoi & Ninh Binh

Hanoi is the chaotic-charming heart of Vietnam. Dive into the bustle of the old town, drink egg coffee, and eat pho for breakfast. Ninh Binh, south of the capital, is the 'dry Halong Bay' – karst mountains tower over rice fields, and you explore the landscape by boat or bicycle.

🛵Hue & Kaiserliche Geschichte

Hue was Vietnam's imperial city – and the citadel still bears witness to this splendor. Explore the Forbidden City, the imperial tombs, and enjoy the famous Hue cuisine, the spiciest in the country. From here it's only an hour to the Hai Van Pass.

🍜The Pass & Hoi An

This is the moment: 21 kilometers of serpentines, tropical jungle on the left, turquoise sea on the right. At the top stands a French bunker relic with a 360-degree view. The descent to Da Nang is equally spectacular. Further south, Hoi An awaits – lanterns, tailors, Bánh Mì, and perhaps the best Cao Lầu in the world.
