The route over the Overseas Highway, a road across 42 bridges in the middle of turquoise-blue sea, is a unique experience. 🌴Miami – Gateway to the Tropics
Miami is unlike any other American city – here Latin America is within reach. South Beach with its pastel Art Deco hotels is world-famous, Ocean Drive a runway for models and onlookers. Little Havana, the Cuban quarter, offers authentic mojitos, cigars, and domino players on 'Calle Ocho'. Wynwood Walls is an open-air museum for street art – every wall a masterpiece. For foodies: the Cuban sandwiches ('Cubano') are legendary, the ceviche fresh, and the fusion cuisine innovative. From Miami, start the Overseas Highway – 180 kilometers across 42 bridges, the sea in incredible turquoise and blue on both sides.
🐊Key West – End of the Road
Key West is the southernmost city of the continental USA – only 145 kilometers from Cuba, closer to Havana than Miami. The atmosphere is unique: Caribbean-relaxed, colorful, tolerant, and full of history. Ernest Hemingway lived here and wrote some of his best works – his house with the famous polydactyl cats (cats with extra toes) is a museum. Sunset at Mallory Square is a daily ritual: street performers, jugglers, fire breathers, and crowds applauding the setting sun. Duval Street is the party mile – bars, live music, and Key Lime Pie (the legendary lime cake) on every corner.
🎢Everglades & Orlando
The Everglades are an ecosystem like no other – a 'river of grass' that slowly moves across South Florida, home to alligators, crocodiles (Florida has both!), manatees, panthers, and hundreds of bird species. Airboat tours are the classic way to explore the swamps – loud, exciting, and unforgettable. The Shark Valley Loop is a 25-kilometer bike tour where alligators often lie right by the path. Orlando is the contrast: the theme park capital of the world. Walt Disney World (four parks!), Universal Studios (Harry Potter!), SeaWorld, and dozens more parks make the city a pilgrimage destination for families.

- ✓The Keys are EXPENSIVE – camping is cheaper than hotels but still pricey. Budget accordingly!
- ✓Hurricane season is June-November – travel outside this time or be prepared for plan changes.
- ✓Mosquito repellent in the Everglades is NOT a luxury – pack plenty!
