Route Overview
About this Tour
Cappadocia is a world of its own: volcanic fairy chimneys rise from the ground like sculptures, underground cities stretch over dozens of floors, and at sunrise hundreds of hot air balloons float over this surreal landscape. From Ankara, this route leads through the heart of Anatolia to the unique Göreme region, on to the dervish city of Konya, and finally to the white limestone terraces of Pamukkale. A journey through millennia of history and natural wonders.
Your Journey in Detail
🎈Ankara & Anatolien
Ankara is often underrated – the Anıtkabir (Atatürk Mausoleum) and the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations are world-class. The drive through Central Anatolia is wide, dry land – perfect for covering distance and diving into the silence of the steppe.
🏛️Kappadokien Magisch
Göreme is the epicenter – a village amidst fairy chimneys, with hotels and restaurants carved into the rock. Sunrise with balloons is Instagram gold standard, but also unforgettable without a camera. The underground cities (Derinkuyu, Kaymaklı) go eight floors deep!
♨️Konya & Pamukkale
Konya is the most conservative city on the route – and the center of the dervishes. The Mevlana Museum is a place of pilgrimage. Pamukkale is the finale: white limestone terraces filled with turquoise thermal water, overlooked by ancient ruins – a dream of nature and history.
💡Practical Tips
- ✓Definitely book balloon flights in advance – and weather can lead to cancellations.
- ✓Turkey has excellent highways, but a HGS toll device is mandatory!
- ✓Only go barefoot on the terraces in Pamukkale – shoes damage the limestone.
