Route Overview
About this Tour
The Turkish Aegean coast is Greece at half the price – and with twice as much history. From Izmir, the cosmopolitan port city, this route leads through ancient Ephesus (one of the best-preserved ruin sites in the world), to chic Bodrum with its sailing boats, and further along the Turquoise Coast to Fethiye. Along the way: hidden bays, ancient theaters by the sea, and hospitality that forces you to come back.
Your Journey in Detail
🏛️Izmir & Ephesus
Izmir is the most liberal city in Turkey – Kordon promenade, bazaar, craft beer scene. Ephesus is a must: the Celsus Library, the great theater, the marble streets – here you walk through 2,000 years of history. Nearby Şirince is a charming wine village.
⛵Bodrum & Gulets
Bodrum is the St. Tropez of Turkey – fortress, harbor, chic bars. Gulet tours (traditional wooden sailing boats) take you to hidden bays reachable only by water. The surrounding area offers quiet alternatives such as Gökcebel or Gümüşlük.
🏖️Fethiye & Finale
Fethiye is the starting point for adventure: paragliding over Ölüdeniz (the famous blue beach), trekking into Butterfly Valley, or a boat to ancient Kaunos. The Lycian Coast to the east offers even more undiscovered bays – a perfect finale for an unforgettable route.
💡Practical Tips
- ✓July-August is hot and full – May-June or Sept-Oct are ideal.
- ✓Turkish breakfast (kahvaltı) is an experience – take your time!
- ✓Campsites are well distributed, wild bays often tolerate overnight stays.
