Route Overview
About this Tour
Northern Thailand is a world apart from the beaches of the south. Here ancient Lanna culture survives, hill tribes maintain traditional ways, and the 'Mae Hong Son Loop' offers 600 km of Thailand's most scenic roads through misty mountains and emerald jungles.
Your Journey in Detail
🏯Chiang Mai – Rose of the North
Chiang Mai is Thailand's second city and cultural capital. The old walled city has over 300 temples – Wat Phra That Doi Suthep on the mountain above is most sacred. The Night Bazaar and Sunday Walking Street are sensory overloads.
🐘The Mae Hong Son Loop
The 'Loop' is legendary among motorcyclists and van travelers – 1,864 curves, 4,000 meters of elevation change, and some of Asia's most spectacular scenery. Pai is the hippie halfway point with hot springs and waterfalls.
🌾Hill Tribes & Nature
Northern Thailand is home to various hill tribes – Karen, Hmong, Lahu, Akha – each with distinct traditions and dress. Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest peak at 2,565m, has cool cloud forests and royal pagodas.
