This route leads you from the vibrant medina of Marrakech over the dramatic passes of the High Atlas to the UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, known from 'Gladiator' and 'Game of Thrones'. Through the spectacular Todra Gorge with its 300-meter-high rock walls, you finally reach Merzouga, the gateway to Erg Chebbi – the highest sand dunes in the Sahara. Here you will experience the highlight: riding camels into the sunset, staying overnight under the clearest starry sky you have ever seen.

🏔️Marrakesch & Atlas-Aufstieg
Marrakech is a feast for the senses – the Djemaa el-Fna square, the souks, the palaces. But don't sit too long: adventure calls! The Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260m) winds through the Atlas Mountains. Once at the top, the land opens up: stone deserts, red rocks, Berber villages.
🐪Kasbahs & Schluchten
Ait Benhaddou is a living film set – the perfectly preserved kasbah perched over the riverbed, its mud towers glowing golden in the evening light. Further east, the landscape narrows to the Todra Gorge, where you park your camper at the foot of 300-meter-high rocks. Climbers from all over the world come here.
🏜️Sahara & Erg Chebbi
In Merzouga, the desert begins. Park your camper and hop on a camel – the ride to the dune camps is an unforgettable experience. The Erg Chebbi dunes reach a height of 150 meters. The sunrise over the sea of sand, sandboarding in the afternoon, the silence of the night under billions of stars – Morocco is magic.

- ✓The best travel time is March-May or Sept-Nov – the desert gets extremely hot in summer!
- ✓Haggling is culture! Always offer half of the quoted price for souvenirs.
- ✓Camping in the desert only with a guide – sandstorms and navigation are dangerous.
