About this Tour

Japan with a camper – a dream that surprises and inspires! This route connects the megacity Tokyo with traditional Kyoto and shows you the whole range of the country. From the electric neon light of Shibuya, you drive through gentle hills to the iconic Mount Fuji, whose perfect silhouette dominates postcards and dreams alike. In Hakone, you enjoy hot springs with a view of the sacred mountain before reaching the historical heart of Japan: Kyoto with its 2,000 temples and shrines, geisha districts, and Zen gardens. The conclusion in Osaka, the foodie capital, is a culinary highlight of the trip. Japan may be expensive – but camping here is cheaper than hotels!

Your Journey in Detail

🗻Tokio Entdecken

Start your adventure in the largest metropolitan region in the world. Tokyo is overwhelming – but in the best way. Explore Shibuya, Harajuku, and Asakusa before reaching the outskirts, where surprisingly quiet campsites await you. Important: Only take over the camper outside the city – Tokyo's streets are a challenge for newcomers!

⛩️Fuji & Hakone

The region around Fuji is Japan's outdoor paradise. Hike past the Five Lakes, enjoy onsen (hot springs) with mountain views, and experience Fuji at sunrise – if the clouds allow. Hakone offers the perfect mix of nature and luxury: volcanic landscapes steaming with sulfur meet traditional ryokans.

🍜Kyoto & Osaka

Kyoto is the spiritual heart of Japan. Visit the golden Kinkaku-ji, hike through the bamboo forest of Arashiyama, and experience the silence of a Zen garden. Osaka is the perfect contrast: loud, colorful, hungry. The city lives for food – takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and endless izakaya are waiting to be discovered.

Travel tips

💡Practical Tips

  • ✓Highway tolls are EXTREMELY expensive! Buy an ETC pass for discounts or drive on local roads.
  • ✓Driving is on the left – take time to get used to it, especially on narrow mountain roads.
  • ✓Many 'Michi-no-Eki' (rest areas) allow free overnight stays in the camper!
