The Ring Road is THE classic among worldwide campervan routes. Over 1,340 kilometers, you circumnavigate the entire island and experience practically every landscape our planet has to offer: bubbling geysers, thundering waterfalls, glacier lagoons with icebergs, black sand beaches, green valleys with Icelandic ponies, and barren highlands with smoking lava fields.

🌋The Golden Circle & South Coast
Your adventure begins in Reykjavik, the world's northernmost capital. The quirky city is compact and walkable – definitely try the famous hot dog at Bæjarins Beztu (supposedly the world's best) and visit the striking Hallgrímskirkja church. Then head to the Golden Circle: Þingvellir National Park where American and Eurasian continental plates meet; Geysir, the namesake of all geysers worldwide (Strokkur erupts every 5-10 minutes!); and Gullfoss, the 'Golden Waterfall' with its breathtaking double cascade.
🧊Glacier Lagoon & East Fjords
The Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon is the highlight of many Iceland trips. Turquoise-blue icebergs drift lazily toward the ocean outlet, where some strand on 'Diamond Beach' glittering like gems in the black sand. Boat tours among the icebergs (Zodiac or amphibious boat) are unforgettable. The East Fjords are Iceland's best-kept secret: deep fjords, tiny fishing villages, almost no tourists.
🐋The Mythical North
Akureyri, the 'Capital of the North' (with just 18,000 residents), surprises with a Botanical Garden, good restaurants, and particularly warm charm. From here, reach Mývatn Lake, an otherworldly landscape of bubbling mud pots, pseudocraters, lava fields, and hot baths – Mývatn Nature Bath is the relaxed alternative to the overcrowded Blue Lagoon! Godafoss, the 'Waterfall of the Gods', plunges in a perfect horseshoe.
