Route Overview
About this Tour
The Georgian Military Highway is one of the world's most spectacular mountain roads, connecting Tbilisi with Russia over the 2,379-meter Cross Pass. Built by the Russians in the 19th century for military purposes, it's now a lifeline for mountain communities and an adventure for travelers.
Your Journey in Detail
⛪Tbilisi – Old & New
Tbilisi is a surprising capital – a mix of old world charm and modern energy. The sulfur baths in the old town are an experience (Orbeliani Baths are most tourist-friendly). The Narikala Fortress offers views over the winding old town.
🏔️Ananuri & Jvari
Ananuri Fortress sits on a reservoir – twin churches behind medieval walls, stunningly photogenic. Jvari Monastery near Mtskheta is a UNESCO site from the 6th century, overlooking where two rivers meet.
🍷Kazbegi & Gergeti
Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) is dominated by Mount Kazbek (5,054m), one of the Caucasus' highest peaks. Above the town, Gergeti Trinity Church sits at 2,170m – the hike up takes 2 hours but the views are otherworldly.
