Route Overview
About this Tour
Rheinsberg Castle is the reason you cruise here. The Rococo castle on Lake Grienerick was the favorite project of Frederick the Great (when he was still a prince). Kurt Tucholsky dedicated an entire book to it – 'Rheinsberg: A Storybook for Lovers'. And yes, it is as romantic as it sounds. The tour leads through small forest lakes – Zechlin, Schwarzer See, Pälitzsee. Narrow canals, dense forest, hardly another boat. If the great Müritz sometimes feels overcrowded, this is the counter-trend. Only hurdle: The Wolfsbruch lock. But it is automated; you press the button and off you go. Otherwise: mirror-smooth lakes, fishing villages, beer gardens by the water. Rheinsberg itself has everything: the castle (a must-see), the Chamber Opera (festival every summer), 'Löwenherz' bookstore (famous LGBT+ bookstore), fine restaurant 'Der Seehof'. Hard Facts: No license required • 1 lock (automated) • Romance factor: maximum • Best time: May-September • Ideal for couples
