The Region in Detail

Your comprehensive travel guide for camping Sossusvlei.

Camping around Sesriem: The Hotspot 📍

Most campsites are concentrated around Sesriem, the gateway to Sossusvlei National Park. Here you will find good infrastructure and be close to the famous dunes. But keep in mind: this is also where most of the action is.

4WD is mandatory – really! ⚙️

The roads to Sossusvlei are mostly gravel tracks. A 4WD vehicle with high ground clearance is absolutely necessary. Better to leave your motorhome at one of the campsites and explore the last few kilometers with an off-road vehicle – believe us, you won't regret it!

Solitaire: More than just apple pie! 🍰

On the way to Sossusvlei lies Solitaire, a small oasis with a gas station, a shop, and the legendary apple pie. But Solitaire is more: explore the surrounding landscape and discover hidden canyons and breathtaking viewpoints – away from the tourist crowds.
